Where to eat in Bruges

Are you ready to discover the best places to eat at Bruges? If you are like us, you probably love to try the typical food of every place you visit and in Belgium it was not going to be less. Belgian gastronomy is famous for its hearty dishes and its delicious beer Bruges is no exception. Join us to discover the best bars and pubs in Bruges to enjoy an authentic gastronomic experience without spending a fortune.

1. Brasserie Cambrinus

If you are a beer lover, you can not miss Cambrinus, a brewery located in the heart of Bruges very close to the main square. After a day exploring the city, it is the perfect place to relax and try different Belgian beers while having a bite to eat. Did you know that Cambrinus has more than 400 types of beer? 

The place is large, although it is usually crowded and the menu is quite extensive, with typical Belgian food. We tried the chicken and the shrimp and everything was quite good. The average price is 25-30€ p.p (depending on how much beer you drink!) and the dishes are plentiful.

2. Soup

This restaurant is one of the best options if you want to eating healthy and cheap in Bruges. Their specialty is soups, and here you can enjoy a wide variety of options, all delicious. If you want an affordable option, the menu of the day for 11€. includes a soup half a sandwich (panini) and a piece of fruit The drink is paid for separately. It also comes with some bread and butter.

We ordered the tomato soup and the leek soup and you can tell that they are home have been some of the ones we have liked the most in Belgium.

3. Chez Albert

In Belgium, we can't fail to recommend a site of waffles and the ones at this place are spectacular. You can add all the toppings you want to the waffle, although we personally love them only with chocolate. They prepare them on the spot so the dough is super fluffy and a little crunchy on the outside. The basic waffle costs 3,5€. and the price goes up as you add toppings.

4. Gilde's Coffee

Authentic Belgian food restaurant, very popular in Bruges both among tourists (Spanish) and locals. It is not the most beautiful place in the world, but it is a good place to eat good and cheap which is the important thing. They have menu of the day for 14€. which includes a starter soup, the dish of the day and coffee. They also have a special menu for children for 9€.

5. 't Hof Van Rembrandt

This location, situated on the Eiermarkt square, is well known for the incredible terrace What better plan than to enjoy a good Belgian beer on a terrace in the sunshine?

As for the food, they offer typical Belgian food and it is a little more expensive than the rest of the places on our list as it is a little more oriented to tourists. We recommend it for its large terrace and its location, to make a short stop, have a beer and some snacks, and continue getting to know Bruges.

6. At Tattie's

The specialty of this small place, located a little further away from the center of Bruges, are the sandwiches, making it one of the best options for eat cheaply in Bruges. In the menu they also have pasta dishes, soup, quiches, or if you want to try something sweet, they have delicious waffles served at breakfast and snacks.

The price of the snacks varies between 5-7€. and these are quite large so you can eat well with one.

7. 't Brugs Beertje

Our last recommendation is this brewery, a paradise for beer lovers beer lovers as they have more than 300 varieties. It is a small place with the typical Belgian brewery decoration and looks like a traditional place frequented by locals.

In terms of food, they don't have a great selection (mostly sausages and cheese), but we liked it very much as a place to have a drink and having a snack for dinner. Above all the atmosphere is super authentic, highly recommended.
