1. Taberna Bar Santos to eat near the mosque

Thinking about where to eat after visiting the Mosque-Cathedral? The answer to this question is very simple because we are going to tell you one of the most emblematic places in the city. The truth is that no matter if you are far or near the mosque-cathedral, our recommendation is that you go to try this place if or if.

This mythical tavern in Cordoba is located right next to the entrance to the orange tree courtyard of the Mosque-Cathedral. It is certainly the ideal stop for lunch after visiting the most famous monument of Cordoba. They have typical Cordovan food, but their specialty is the giant tortillas and the salmorejo.

There is usually a line out the door but it tends to move fairly quickly since the food is take-out, no tables inside. People usually sit down to eat in the cathedral's poyete as you can see in the photos we put here. Here are the prices:

  • Potato omelette skewer (2,5€). We liked it but it is quite curdled, so be careful if you don't like this kind of tortillas.
  • Salmorejo (3,2 €). Very tasty, after queuing in the sun, it comes in very fresh.

Taberna Góngora the best place to eat well and cheaply in Córdoba.

One of our favorite sites and one that, from our experience, has the eggplants with honey the richest in the city, is the Góngora tavern. A place of all life that is well worth a visit.

His specialty, of course, is the traditional cordovan food with abundant rations, very tasty and inexpensive. They have a room to go with reservation and another to go without but our recommendation is that you go early if you do not have a reservation because we had to wait almost 1 hour. We ordered:

  • Eggplant fried with cane honey (4,5€). We ordered a half portion and when it arrived we asked him if he had made a mistake and had put the whole portion, but no! They were also super crispy and delicious, a dish 10.
  • Cordovan Salmorejo (6,5€). Very tasty too, one of the best we tasted in Córdoba.
  • We also ordered a half portion of fried squid (5,5€) but we forgot to take a picture before we started eating... they were especially good.

This place is quite famous for its tasty and large portions so if you want to try it reserve always in advance so as not to suffer the wait.

3. El Churrasco Restaurant to eat in downtown Cordoba.

Our next recommendation focuses on one of the most emblematic restaurants in the center of the capital city, located near the area of the Jewish quarter in a typical cordovan house. It is a charming place, one of those of a lifetime.

As you might have guessed, its name already gives a clue to its specialty, the grilled meats. The local has a typical courtyard of Cordoba The restaurant, which in our opinion is the most beautiful area to eat, and several lounges around it. If you want to go there we recommend book in advance and ask for a table in the inner courtyard.

We have been to this restaurant several times and have never been disappointed. Some of the things we have tried (the ones in the photos) to share are:

  • Barbecue for 2 people (36€). It was tasty but we were not thrilled. We have tried other times the steak or the grilled sirloin steak and we recommend this option.
  • Salmorejo (9€/portion). It was very tasty, one of the best we tasted in Córdoba.
  • Cheesecake (6.25€/portion). Good flavor but it was made without oven and we really like the other kind better.
  • Fried milk with ice cream cinnamon (5.95€). Finger-licking good.
  • We also ordered some stew croquettes (5.9€/half portion) but we forgot to take a picture. You could tell they were homemade.

4. Taberna Salinas to eat flamenquines

Another of Cordoba's most famous traditional places to visit is the Salinas Tavern. We recommend you to make a reservation before going there because it usually gets very crowded. This time we made very good choices, we will tell you about it:

  • Salmorejo Cordovan
  • Mushrooms grilled
  • Flamenquín Cordovan
  • We also request meat in sauce but once again... we missed the photo.

5. Sojo Fusion, one of the best terraces to eat in Cordoba.

Of course one of the main reasons to go to Cordoba is to enjoy the good weather that is usually in the city and with a pleasant temperature who does not feel like having lunch or dinner on a terrace in the city.

From the same owners of Sojo Ribera, a famous terrace for drinks and chill out that is right next door, this restaurant chooses to present traditional Cordovan food with a modern approach. The place has a lot of charm, both outside and inside and the truth is that the food is quite good. Here is a summary of what we ordered:

  • Salmorejo cordobes with egg and iberian ham (8€/portion)
  • Flamenquín cordobes (13€/serving)
  • Cannelloni chicken tikamasala and bechamel sauce (13,5€/serving)

6. Montillana Tavern

This modern Cordovan food place offers the option of book online from their website so take advantage of it! You can even make reservations on their terrace.

Ideal tavern of traditional cordovan food but with a twist. It started as a traditional tavern in the 50's, but now it is a reference in gastronomic innovation.

  • Eggplants fried with honey Montoro and goat cheese (8,90€/portion)
  • Rib Brioche roasted garlic/yogurt cream and pickled onions (8,5€/unit)
  • Torrija cold white chocolate soup and salted caramel ice cream (5,5€/portion)
  • Cheesecake, "Lotus" cookie and dulce de leche (5,2€/portion)

7. Mercado de la Victoria to eat tapas in Cordoba.

A spectacular place if you feel like trying a little bit of everything. It is a huge gastronomic market where you can order all kinds of food you can think of. From the most classic to the most modern.
