If there is one thing I learned during My Erasmus year in Lausanne Switzerland can be very expensive, but there are always ways to enjoy it without spending a fortune! During that time, I made a few trips to Geneva and discovered some restaurants where you can eat well without emptying your wallet.

The Pocket Radar

The Pocket Radar It is a charming place in Geneva that combines home cooking with a cozy atmosphere. They serve simple and typical dishes of the Swiss and European cuisine, perfect for a quick meal or a relaxed lunch without spending a lot.

We tested its homemade quiche, which was super creamy and well seasoned, and a lentil salad with feta cheese which surprised us with its freshness and balanced flavor. Both dishes came with generous portions, and everything had that "homemade" touch we love so much.

Known for its relaxed atmosphere and affordable menu, here they focus on offering dishes of Mediterranean inspiration y vegetarian options, ideal for those looking for healthy and tasty food.

We tested its vegetable couscous, full of spices and intense flavors, and a spinach and cheese savory tart, which was perfectly baked and had an irresistible homemade touch. All accompanied by a natural lemonade that refreshes even the hottest day.

The average price is around 20 CHF per person, a bargain considering Swiss prices. The atmosphere is very cozy, with small tables and simple but charming decor, perfect for relaxing and enjoying a good meal.

Chez ma cousine Bourg-de-four

A classic in Geneva for those looking for a quick, delicious meal without breaking the bank. Their specialty is roasted chicken, prepared in the traditional style and accompanied by generous sides like roasted potatoes and salad. It's a place where comfort food is the star.

We set out to try its star menu which includes half roasted chicken with potatoes and salad. Everything was juicy and well seasoned, a simple dish but full of flavor. We also ordered a quiche Lorraine, which turned out to be a delicious surprise, with a crispy base and a creamy filling.

The average price is around 23 CHF per person, making it an affordable and popular option for both locals and tourists. The atmosphere is very relaxed, with long shared tables and fast service. If you're hungry and looking for something uncomplicated, this place can't be beat.

Manora

Manora It is a self-service restaurant perfect for those looking for variety and affordable prices in the heart of Geneva. It is a buffet with options for all tastes: from fresh salads to hot dishes of international cuisine (sushi, Mexican, Indian, etc.). We tried a personalized salad, with avocado, quinoa and mozzarella, along with a mushroom risotto that was not bad.

The average price is about 20 CHF per person, depending on what you choose from the buffet. The space is spacious and modern, and has a outdoor terrace with great views of the city. It's an ideal option if you're strolling downtown and looking for a quick, reasonably priced meal, although don't expect gourmet food.

The Buvette des Bains

This restaurant is famous for serving one of the cheese fondues most affordable and delicious in Geneva. It is located in the Bains des Pâquis, right next to the lake. Here, for €27 per person You can enjoy a fondue with potatoes and unlimited bread. They also have daily specials for around €15.

Some friends recommended it to us, but we haven't been able to try it yet. We've noted it down for next time. They also tell us that it's especially magical at sunset, when the lake and the city lights create a unique atmosphere.

In this case we ask for the pibil tacos, served with a homemade sauce that had just the right level of spice, and the nachos with guacamole, perfect for sharing. While it's not the best Mexican dish we've ever had, the food is quite tasty.

Italian restaurant known for its authentic Neapolitan pizzas and its lively atmosphere, it's the perfect place for a delicious meal without breaking your budget.

We tried their classic Margherita pizza, with a soft and spongy dough, and its tagliatelle alla Bolognese. Both dishes transported us directly to Italy, and the flavor lived up to expectations. Keep in mind that if they give you a jug of water They will charge you, and charge you well (after all, we are in Switzerland!)

We tested its BBQ Bacon Burger, which came loaded with melted cheese and a smoky touch, and the Classic Cheeseburger, simple but delicious. Both were accompanied by crispy fries, which were delicious.

The average price is around 20-30 CHF per person, which is reasonable for the quality and generous portions they offer. Plus, they have vegetarian options, which adds points.
