🌎 Map of the best areas to stay in Ibiza

We leave you here a map with the areas that we have mentioned above, read on so as not to miss the details in each of the sections.

San Antonio - The best party area and cheap accommodation in Ibiza

San Antonio is one of the most important tourist centers of the island where thousands of young European tourists gather every year, which makes it one of the most important tourist centers of the island lively area in the summer months. If you are looking for nocturnal environment and an offer of leisure y entertainment huge this is definitely your area. In San Antonio you can also find some of the most famous discotheques of Ibiza such as Eden, Amnesia Ibiza o Es Paradís These are world leaders in electronic music.

One of the main advantages that we see in this area is that it is one of the most important cheaper to stay in Ibiza. Its hotel offer is full of all-inclusive packages at very good prices. We stayed at the Osiris Hotel and we totally recommend it. We stayed in one of their rooms overlooking the sea where you could see magical sunsets. We had half board included and although the buffet was not very big the food in general was good.

Another advantage of San Antonio is that it is very well connected as it is located only 15km from Ibiza town, half an hour from the airport and there is also the option of arriving by ferry from Valencia or Barcelona.

Up to 20% in Flights

But San Antonio is much more than a party area. Nearby are some of the most beautiful paradisiacal beaches that we saw on the island, such as Salada Cove y Saladeta Cove, Comte Cove o Bassa Cove with its famous beach club. It is also famous for the incredible sunsets that can be contemplated, both in the famous Café del Mar as simply in any of its beaches. Of course, if you want to visit the island our recommendation is to rent a car or a motorcycle. The roads are very good and we consider it essential for the displacements.

Up to 30% on car rental

We liked our stay in San Antonio, but it is true that we did not see it in all its splendor full of tourists (the discos were closed!). If we repeat I think we would probably choose another area because, although we like the atmosphere to go out at night for dinner and a drink, we do not like crowded areas.

We leave you a summary of what for us are the advantages and disadvantages of staying in San Antonio on a trip to Ibiza:

Advantages of sleeping in San Antonio

  • Inexpensive and wide range of hotels
  • Paradisiacal beaches
  • Many restaurants
  • Lively area with nightlife

Disadvantages of sleeping in San Antonio if you are looking for tranquility

  • Tourist overcrowding
  • International nightclub tourism

Ibiza town - the most recommended area to stay in Ibiza (leisure, beaches)

Ibiza is the capital of the island and is one of the best places to stay on the island. It is a small coastal town with a lot of charm and multiple attractions: a wide range of gastronomic a nightlife vibrant, a old town with history and proximity to the best beaches partying with its beach clubs. The atmosphere in Ibiza is more elegant and cosmopolitan than in San Antonio.

Its old town, Dalt Vila Dalt Vila, whose walls have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is a must-see and the island's main cultural attraction. Dalt Vila invites you to get lost in its narrow streets and viewpoints. Between the walls and the port is the Marina, the old fishing district converted into one of the liveliest areas of the city, for being full of stores, bars and restaurants. It is one of the best areas to go out for a drink.

The nightlife of Ibiza has nothing to envy to that of San Antonio. After having a few drinks in the port area or in the old town you can always end up in Pacha Ibiza, another one of the famous discotheques of the island. And not content with this, we also have the option of going nearby to Playa d'en Bossa and its beach clubs

Being the capital, it is also very well connected with the entire road network of Ibiza and the airport is 10 minutes away. Its port also receives the arrival of dozens of ferries from different parts of Spain and is the starting point to go to see Formentera, an excursion not to be missed.

And if what you are looking for is a beach, Ibiza has close to the well-known beaches of Talamanca beach, Playa d'en Bossa and beach of Figueretes although it is true that they are not the most spectacular we have ever seen.

As you can see Ibiza town is one of the most complete areas of the island, perfect to stay whether you go as a couple or with friends. It seems to us a good base point from which to tour the island and the prices of accommodation are moderate if you look for them in advance. We liked it very much and if we return it will surely be a city to consider to stay.

✅ Advantages of sleeping in Ibiza City

  • Nightlife
  • A multitude of restaurants and bars
  • Cultural visit

❌ Disadvantages of sleeping in Ibiza Town

  • Nearby beaches are not the most beautiful

Playa d'En Bossa - The most famous area to stay in Ibiza

Bossa Beach is the beach par excellence of Ibiza and has all kinds of services along its 3km: restaurants, bars, stores, beach clubs with Balinese beds and DJs, etc.. It is the best beach to party in Ibiza and the best area to stay if these are your plans in Ibiza.

During the day, it is ideal to enjoy a drink at any of the beach clubs that extend along the entire length of the beach. They also have sun loungers and Balinese beds that can be rented all day long, sometimes including a drink. Of course, you have to prepare your wallet because they are not cheap, some even require a minimum charge per reservation. The good thing about this beach is that if you get tired of partying there is also a wide range of water sports such as jet skis, windsurfing or kayaks.

At night, Playa d'en Bossa is the place to be for partying. Here you will find the most famous bars and discos of the island, such as the mythical discotheque Ushuaia o Bora Bora

Ushuaia Beach Hotel back side

Here the atmosphere is less international than in San Antonio and, although there is a wide range of accommodation, the prices are usually high due to high demand.

If you are not going to Ibiza to go out to party we do not recommend this area because besides the high prices We did not find it to be an impressive beach compared to others we saw on the island (although it does have all the services). Also, since the airport is so close, the airplanes pass very low and there is a constant noise of airplane engines that we did not find the most beautiful or relaxing in the world.

✅ Advantages of sleeping in Playa d'en Bossa

  • Young and party atmosphere
  • A multitude of restaurants and bars
  • Beach with all services

❌ Disadvantages of sleeping in Playa d'en Bossa if you are looking for tranquility.

  • Aircraft noise passing very low
  • High lodging prices
  • High prices for food and drinks on the beach

Santa Eulalia del Rio - The best area to stay in Ibiza with family or children

On our route through Ibiza we made a stop in this small coastal town and we loved it. It has a special atmosphere of relax that we do not find elsewhere and is a destination that we would recommend especially if you are looking for a quiet vacation. Here there is less international tourism, being one of the preferred options for those who are looking for a premises and for families or couples who are not looking for a lot of fuss.

Santa Eulalia has an exclusive marina that attracts more and more exclusive tourism, making this a very elegant area with plenty of restaurants, bars and stores of all kinds. It is the perfect area to go out to dine and then walk quietly through the beautiful promenade that goes from the Yacht Club to the mouth of the river that runs through Santa Eulalia and to which it owes its name (it is the only river in the Balearic Islands!). We did this route and we liked very much the air of tranquility that was breathed since the walk is very well taken care of, surrounded by palm trees, gardens and fountains.

The beach located in Santa Eulalia itself is quite good for an urban beach, but if you also want to see beaches with more charm very close are some of the best beaches such as Cala Llonga the beach of Es Canar, Cala Nova o San Vicente Cove We particularly loved the latter.

Another of the strong points of this town is that two of the most famous hippie markets in Ibiza are very close by: the Las Dalias flea market and that of Arabí Point.

The price of accommodation in Santa Eulalia has a very wide range, being able to find offers for all budgets. Although here obviously the offer is more limited than in San Antonio or Ibiza town, for example, so it is advisable to book in advance. When we booked we took a look at this area and there were no longer many affordable options.

✅ Advantages of sleeping in Santa Eulalia

  • Peace of mind
  • Wide range of restaurants and bars
  • Very well maintained urban beach
  • Proximity to hippie markets

❌ Disadvantages of sleeping in Santa Eulalia.

  • Far from the coves in the western part of the island that we found impressive.
  • Little nightlife

Portinatx - Ideal area to stay in Ibiza for couples

To enjoy a getaway in the midst of the nature Portinatx can be one of the best areas to stay in Ibiza. This haven of peace and tranquility is located in the wildest part of the island where its small charming coves stand out.

This area consists of three beautiful beaches of crystalline and turquoise waters with fine sand and rocks at the ends: Arenal Petit, Arenal Gros and Porto beach. Nearby is also the famous Xarraca Cove a beach very well known by the lovers of diving as it is perfect for practicing snorkel. Its clear waters and deep seabed allow you to discover a great quantity of marine fauna. In these beaches you will normally find few people since the north of the island is quite crowded less crowded than the south.

In addition to these beaches, you can visit incredible natural spaces, as there are many hiking trails in the area.

Sunset from the promenade of San Antonio beach in Ibiza.

In this area we were only able to see Xarraca Cove due to lack of time (it is impossible to see the whole island in a week!), but it fits perfectly with the description of this area. A quiet cove with few people and perfect for snorkeling when weather conditions permit (we had the bad luck to see it on a day when the sea was rough and the weather was regular).

There are also entertaining nightlife and restaurants in this area (what coastal place is not!) but much quieter and less touristy than in other areas of Ibiza.

The supply of accommodation in the north of the island is quite scarce as the demand is quite low as well. Accommodation can be found in a wide range of prices, from cheap apartments, family hotels with entertainment, to hotels for adults only.

✅ Advantages of sleeping in Portinatx

  • Quiet and intimate environment
  • Coves of crystalline and turquoise waters

❌ Disadvantages of sleeping in Portinatx

  • Reduced nightlife
  • Limited hotel supply

Cala San Vicente - Where to stay in Ibiza to disconnect from the world

On our route through Ibiza we ended up in San Vicente Cove almost by chance looking for an area of the island where the weather was good (in case you don't know, in Ibiza the weather varies a lot from one area to another and if in one beach you find a cloudy day in another one it can be perfectly sunny).

To begin with, we fell in love with the road that leads to Cala San Vicente from the western part of the island, a road that leads to Cala San Vicente curvy road all surrounded by vegetation and nature that we recommend 100% see (especially if you go by motorcycle as we did). As soon as you get to the beach you realize that it is a destination with a very local and relaxed tourism, so we recommend this destination if what you want is isolation and complete disconnection.

La Cala de San Vicente is spectacular It is a beach of fine golden sand and crystal clear turquoise waters, surrounded by cliffs with vegetation that protect it from the waves. It is a fairly large beach so this, coupled with the little tourism, will always find space in the sand even in high season. In addition, it has all kinds of services (rental of hammocks, sports equipment, showers, etc). Behind it there is a small promenade with some restaurants, stores and kayak and boat rentals.

the best cove in the north of Ibiza

Another of the things we loved about this beach that we were looking for is that it is perfect for snorkeling. Its crystal clear waters allow you to see clearly and you only have to go a little deeper into the water to discover a posidonia meadow riddled with minnows. The marine fauna of this beach is spectacular and one of the most beautiful we saw on the island.

It is true that here the hotel offer is super limited since there are only a couple of hotels and some tourist villas, but it seems to us one of the best areas where to stay in Ibiza with the family or couple if you are looking for total tranquility and a spectacular beach nearby.

✅ Advantages of sleeping in cala San Vicente

  • Total disconnection
  • Quiet environment without tourism
  • Cove of crystalline and turquoise waters in the town itself.

❌ Disadvantages of sleeping in cala San Vicente.

  • Limited supply of lodging
  • Limited supply of restaurants and bars
  • Little nightlife

The most recommended areas of Ibiza to stay in tranquility

Finally we leave you some recommendations to stay in Ibiza in some of the most relaxing areas of the island. All of them have their own spectacular beaches, with crystal clear waters and wide fine sand. The areas of Tarida Cove, Cala Llonga y Es Canar are very popular places to stay in Ibiza with the family as there are enough restaurants, bars and water activities to keep you entertained, but at the same time you can enjoy the tranquility of these less touristy areas.

Obviously in these sites there is a nightlife very quiet but the roads of Ibiza are in very good condition so you could visit any other point nearby if you want to go for dinner and a drink in another area with more atmosphere.

Ses Illetes beach in the early morning hours

In all these coves there is a varied offer of accommodation, although it is not very large due to the lower demand compared to other areas.

✅ Advantages of sleeping in Ibiza in quiet areas

  • Quiet environment
  • Crystalline and turquoise water coves in the town itself.

❌ Disadvantages of sleeping in Ibiza in quiet places.

  • Lower lodging supply than in other areas
  • Limited supply of restaurants and bars
  • Low nightlife
