Best beaches of the Gulf of Orosei in Sardinia

If you are planning a trip to Sardinia, get ready to discover some of the most paradisiacal beaches in the Mediterranean. Best beaches of the Gulf of Orosei

Sardinia is known for its beautiful beaches, its picturesque villages and for hosting the famous Gulf of Orosei located on the east coast of the island, where you can find some of the best beaches and coves of Sardinia. If you have never been you will be surprised by its wild beaches, in fact, to get to some of them you have to walk up to an hour under the sun so, if you want to save time, we recommend you to hire some of the best beaches and coves of Sardinia excursion to take you by boat to several of them.

When we were in the area we booked the cruise on the Gulf of Orosei, The tour was a very cool experience, and the truth is that we were picked up early in the morning. We were picked up early in the morning Cala Gonone harbor and we started the excursion with a wonderful landscape. In our case, there were not many of us and we had to sail in a motorboat, but it was quite comfortable, with awnings to block the sun and more or less comfortable seats.

Depending on the day, you will stop at several beaches. We loved the spiaggia acqua dolce, only accessible by boat, but the rest of the coves were also incredible, we even went back to some of them after the excursion. The coves we visited were:

• Goloritzè Cove
• Venus Pool
• Ziu Santoru Cove
• Moon Cove
• Sisine Cove

Of course you have to bring a snorkel to be able to dive in these turquoise waters. On the boat they can leave you one but for hygiene reasons it is better to bring your own.

According to what we were told, on some excursions you can see dolphins while you are on the boat but we were not so lucky, hopefully you will be able to see them!

If you hire any of these excursions we recommend you to bring food and drinks from home. It is true that on the boats they give you a snack and that you can buy something on the beach, but they usually inflate the prices and the quality leaves something to be desired.

1. Moon Cove

The Moon Cove is located on the east coast of Sardinia and is a jewel of nature that represents the Gulf of Orosei. It is formed under a cliff in which the sea has been excavating some of the caves and the resulting landscape is one of the most spectacular we have seen in Sardinia.

There are usually many people visiting this area so it is a good idea to get up early or hire an excursion that will take you by boat to the sand.

2. Biriola Cove

Situated just below Cala Luna, the Biriola Cove is a cove of white sand and turquoise waters. It is an ideal place to practice snorkel It has a great variety of fish and in general a spectacular marine fauna. It is also a good option for those who love hiking as you will be able to find a trail that leads to the top of the cliff from where you can enjoy breathtaking views.

3. Mariolu Cove

The Mariolu Cove is also located in the gulf of Orosei. It is a cove of white sand and crystal clear waters, ideal for snorkeling. Around the cove there are some cliffs formed by rocks of about colors very curious, which gives it a special touch.

One of the most popular activities in this cove is the practice of scuba diving. An incredible experience and highly recommended if you have never tried it. If you like snorkeling, this is the next step. We had already snorkeled in other beaches in Spain but we had never seen the water so crystal clear, so full of fish and marine fauna as in this area.

4. Cala Gonone

Cala Gonone is a small town located on the east coast of Sardinia, in the province of Nuoro. It is a popular tourist destination for its beautiful beaches, clear waters and varied landscape. The town is situated between the mountains and the sea, and the nearest beach is just a few minutes walk from the center. There are several restaurants and bars in the town, as well as several stores and supermarkets. Cala Gonone is also a good base for exploring the surrounding area, with many hiking and mountain biking trails in the nearby mountains.

5. Goloritze Cove

Goloritzé Cove is located in a protected natural park. To reach it, you have to make a short walk, but it is worth it, as it is one of the most beautiful coves in Sardinia. The scenery is spectacular, with an impressive arched rock that protrudes to one side of the cove.

6. Fuili Cove

The Fuili Cove is one of the wildest coves of the island. Before reaching the sand you will have to make a small route on foot. Once there, you can enjoy a quiet and ideal place to disconnect, unlike other more crowded beaches of the island. The cove is formed by a beach of white pebbles and a small cave formed by large stones that came off the cliff.

If you like the climbing You should know that it is one of the most typical places on the island to practice this sport. You can always see climbers taking advantage of the large cliff walls to practice.

Another of the most typical activities to do in this area if it is not too hot is to take the opportunity to walk the trail that connects this cove with Luna creek about which we have told you above.

7. Porto Giunco Cove

Located on the southeastern coast of Sardinia, the Cala Porto Giunco is a beautiful cove of the island, not particularly crowded. It is characterized by its white sand and turquoise waters, ideal to practice dive as the water is usually very clear. Nearby, you will also find a restaurant area and a recreational area.
