Where to dine in Granada with charm

One of the most special plans you can make to enjoy this beautiful city is to dine in one of the many restaurants in Granada overlooking the Alhambra or views of Sierra Nevada As you've seen, there are plenty of options for both tapas and a sit-down meal, but unfortunately, not all of them are good. It's quite common to find typical tourist restaurants where you get average food at an inflated price.

1. Carmen de Aben Humeya

This panoramic restaurant is one of the best for eat in Granada with a view It is located in a Carmen very close to the San Nicolas viewpoint So you can imagine the views... the Alhambra! Plus, you can enjoy the gardens of the beautiful Carmen during a very romantic dinner.

The restaurant's cuisine mixes the traditional Granadan cuisine with some more modern touches. Don't miss it bull's tail with purée cheese é or its fantastic curry rice or of ras el hanout The average price of this restaurant is 50€ pp No wine, as you have to pay for the views. Highly recommended for a special dinner with the best views of the Alhambra.

2. The Garden of Juan Ranas

This restaurant is also located in the Albaicín and has some magnificent ones views of the Alhambra very similar to those of Carmen de Aben Humeya. As dishes we can find everything from typical salmorejo o croquettes, to Arabic-inspired dishes such as couscous of lamb or the tajín or even caviar from Riofrío for the most exquisite palates.

The average price of this restaurant can vary greatly depending on what you order, but it is usually around 60€ pp without ordering wine. That's the thing about its privileged location: you have to pay for the views. We have to say that in this case we didn't try the food, but we've made a note of it for a special occasion. If you want to enjoy the views without breaking the bank, there are also people who go just for a drink. It will be one of the most expensive you'll pay in Granada, but also with the best views.

3. The Tomasas

This restaurant is one of the most famous in the Albaicín among the people of Granada. It's located in a larger carmen than the previous restaurants we've mentioned and has several terraces and rooms, which is why many people celebrate weddings and events here.
As for its food, it has letter seasonal and two tasting menus (€50).

Its cuisine is modern with traditional touches, always present the famous salmorejo Andalusian, but you can also enjoy a spectacular risotto or a delicious wok The average price is 60€ pp à la carte And if you visit their website, you'll see that reservations fly, as they almost always have fully booked days. We were there for a wedding, and the food was truly spectacular.

They also have a terrace where you can simply stop by have a cocktail or a drink.

4. Carmen the Water

This fusion cuisine restaurant has very special views of the Alhambra. Its terrace has a very intimate feel and is ideal for a special lunch or dinner, such as an anniversary, a birthday party, or any other celebration you may have in mind.

They have several couples menus (between 40 and 60€) and another for groups of 4 or more people, perfect for trying a variety of things. It's open every day, so it's no problem going on a weekday.

5. Arriaga Restaurant

Restaurant of modern kitchen with Basque roots of the chef Álvaro Arriaga Located on the top floor of the Museum of Memory of Andalusia, at more than 50 meters high, it has some breathtaking views of the city, the Vega and Sierra Nevada It's one of the best restaurants in Granada for special occasions.

Each bite is a journey of flavors, with modern winks and that authentic touch of the Basque cuisine which we love. For wine lovers, they also have an extensive wine cellar where it's best to get advice.

They have two tasting menus, one for 100€ with 9 steps and another by 80€ with 6 steps Both feature local produce and delicious bites like steak tartare, shrimp, or aged beef ribs. They can be ordered with or without a wine pairing.

6. Pilar del Toro Restaurant

Restaurant of Spanish cuisine located in a 17th-century stately palace at the foot of the Alhambra. They have different spaces within the restaurant, but we recommend eating in the central courtyard with marble columns, will transport you to another era and is simply a unique place.

They have a not very extensive menu with options for all tastes, from the typical salmorejo with a modern touch of mango, avocado and wasabi, up to a oxtail perfectly cooked and melts in your mouth. Not forgetting the desserts, with that pistachio cake hard to beat.

The average price of the restaurant is 40€ per person, being one of the most recommended restaurants in Granada to eat immersed in the history of the city.

💡 Tip to save
If the restaurant is a bit out of your budget or you don't have time for lunch, you can also just go for breakfast and admire the inside. They serve breakfast with toast, fresh juices, and fresh pastries.

7. The Threshing Machine

One of the best restaurants to eat in the heart of the Albaicín with views of the Alhambra It is the Trillo restaurant Mediterranean cuisine in a unique environment with one of the terraces most charming in the city. In addition to the terrace, they have a garden surrounded by vegetation super nice, although we recommend eating on the upstairs terrace if it's your first time there.

The quality cuisine is based on Mediterranean products, with olive oil as the guiding principle. The variety of starters, main courses, and specialties makes choosing difficult because you'll want to order everything. Their food is delicious risotto its Iberian cheek and its croquettes.

 The average price of the restaurant is 40-50€ per person Our recommendation is that you try to go to dinner early so you can watch the sunset and the Alhambra as it lights up.

8. El Mirador de San Nicolás Restaurant

Restaurant of homemade Andalusian food with a terrace located right next to the San Nicolás Viewpoint This restaurant is less luxurious than the rest of the options on the list, but for that reason it's one of the most affordable options. We recommend that you at least have one beer to regain strength on its terrace after climbing and descending the slopes of the Albaicín.

On the menu they have legendary dishes such as alpujarreño dish, with potatoes, chorizo, blood sausage and ham. We also recommend the house sangria or a refreshing one homemade gazpacho very cool. The average price per person is 25-30€ per person.

9. Chill Out Monastery

The terrace of this hotel has become a must-see for the people of Granada. In this case, more than a restaurant, it's a rooftop bar with panoramic views of the city. They have an extensive menu of cocktails, coffees, beers or even options for snack such as pancakes or waffles. To enjoy the complete experience on a visit to Granada, they also have hookahs of different flavors.

It is one of the best options for the afternoon in Granada, with the average price of the glasses and the cocktails from 8€. Highly recommended for a special occasion or a first visit to the city of Granada.
