Step-by-step guide to the Chorrera Trail

In the following section you will find the track to follow the route in wikiloc or to download it as a GPX file, we tell you about our step by step of the hike in case it helps you and we also leave you some photos that we took along the way.

  1. Starting Point It all starts in the square of the Trinitarian Convent of Hervás. This is where you can get ready, adjust your backpacks and make sure to bring water and something to eat.

  2. Towards the Iron Bridge From the square, head towards the old iron bridge. This bridge is part of an old railroad line and is a perfect place to make the first stop and take some pictures.

  3. The Cemented Road After crossing the Via Verde, you will find a cemented road. This is where the adventure really begins. This stretch lasts about three and a half kilometers and will take you directly to the "Casa de la Luz". It is a good time to chat and enjoy the scenery.

  4. Right turn Just before you reach the power plant, there is a path on the right. This is your path! Don't miss it. This is where a slightly more demanding climb begins, but nothing you can't handle.

  5. The Zigzagging Climb Be prepared for an uphill section of about 700 meters. This trail zigzags up next to a large pipe where the water comes down. It's good exercise and, when you get to the top, the view is incredible.

  6. Following the Channel Once at the reservoir, the trail follows the channel that fills it. This channel comes almost from the base of the waterfall. It is a quiet and very nice stretch, ideal for breathing the fresh mountain air.

  7. Forero Creek and the Final Trail After walking about two more kilometers, you will cross the Forero stream. Here you will find a path on the right. This is the last stretch that takes you directly to the Chorrera.

  8. La Chorrera Congratulations, you have arrived! La Chorrera is a magical place, perfect to rest, eat something and, of course, take lots of pictures. The sound of the water and the nature around is something you will always remember.
