Kohlanta

If you feel like an express trip to Southeast Asia without leaving A Coruña, Kohlanta is a top choice. This place, with an informal and modern vibe, serves Thai and Indonesian dishes that surprise for its taste and presentation. It is close to downtown, so it is easy to find and perfect for a different dinner without breaking the piggy bank. We went because downtown was full and it was a total success.

We tested the kohcretas of shank and super creamy!brutal! We also ask for the nasi goreng with egg a typical Indonesian fried rice, which was spectacular with just the right amount of spiciness. The thai secret curry It tasted good, although it was the least exciting of the trio. Still, it was good to eat.

The place has a modern feel, with simple but neat decoration, and the service was fast and friendly. It is a place that gets quite crowded, so it is better to make a reservation or go early. It is not a place for long tablecloths, but the atmosphere invites you to spend a good time chatting.

A Taberna de Cunqueiro

Right in the center of A Coruña, A Taberna de Cunqueiro is one of those places where you know you are going to eat well. It is a traditional tavern, with a lively atmosphere, wooden tables and a menu full of classic Galician dishes that are comforting from the first bite.

We tested the octopus a feira It was tasty, although it was not the best we have eaten. But watch out for the raxo the meat is tender, well seasoned, and the salsa... brutal. One of those that make not even a crumb of bread is left. We also ordered the ham croquettes They were correct, creamy and tasty, but not surprising.

The great thing about this site is that you can order to share and try a bit of everything. It has a terrace (if you catch good weather is a plus), and inside is very cozy, with that air of tasca always. The treatment was close and fast, so it is ideal for an informal meal with colleagues or family.

  • Favorite dish: Raxo with sauce

Mesón El Serrano

If you are in the center of town and you feel like a quick but tasty snack, the Mesón El Serrano is one of those places that never fails. It has the air of a neighborhood bar, unpretentious, but with a rich home cooking.

We went for two classics: the squid The meat, which came just right, tender and with a crispy batter without being oily, and a salad that we loved. Creamy, with well-cut pieces and a very balanced flavor. No doughy or bland salads: this one was very rich.

Don't expect any frills in the decoration: it's a simple bar, with tall tables and tapas atmosphere. But that's part of its charm. Also, the service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere is very "locals", which is always a good sign.

  • Average price per person: 12-15€
  • Favorite dish: Salad

La Bombilla

La Bombilla is one of those mythical bars in A Coruña where you eat well, you pay little and there is always an atmosphere. It is right in the center, and although it is almost always crowded, it is worth waiting a bit or looking for a space at the bar. Here you come to tapas..

We tested the meatballs that surprised us very much: tender and with a spectacular sauce for non-stop bread dipping. We also ordered the croquetón which is an XXL croquette, quite tasty although a bit heavy if you want to try more things. The Galician broth We also loved it, very tasty and comforting, ideal if you catch a cool day.

The place is small and usually quite crowded, but that also gives it that authentic bar feel. There are no luxuries or posturing, just good food, reasonable prices and a lot of movement. Perfect for a quick tapas or an informal dinner with friends.

  • Average price per person: 12-14€
  • Favorite dish: Meatballs with sauce

Pontejos Bar

If you are looking for a place to have breakfast in A Coruña without ending up in a generic cafeteria, we recommend you Pontejos Bar. A bar of the usual, with metal bar, which was recommended to us by an older man on the street when he saw us lost looking on google maps where to have breakfast.

So we went and asked for a tortilla skewer that blew us away. Juicy, with just the right amount of egg and well poached potato.. one of the best we have tasted in a long time. A traditional Galician omelette, made with love.

The place is small, very neighborhood, with that authentic and close atmosphere that only comes with years of experience. Perfect for a hearty breakfast before walking around the city or for a mid-morning stop.

  • Average price per person: 4-5€
  • Favorite dish: Tortilla skewer

Deabejas

Deabejas is a modern bar with an informal air that is committed to giving a twist to the caps of all time. It is in a quiet area of the center and is ideal for a relaxed dinner with a friend dishes to share especially if you like to try things with a different touch but without going crazy.

Since there were only two of us, we were not able to try much, but we liked what we ate. We tried the battered prawns They came very crispy and with a sauce that accompanied them very well, quite tasty. We also ordered the raxo with cabrales. It was good, the meat was tender and the cheese well integrated, although for our taste it lacked a little more strength to the cabrales (we love this cheese).

The place is nicely decorated, with high tables, good ambience and soft music. They also have a small terrace. The treatment was very friendly and they explained each dish well. We recommend you to make a reservation.
