Eating well in Santiago is not difficult, but finding authentic places without tourist traps is another matter. That's why we set up this route, trying bars, taverns and wine bars where it is served Galician food authentic with quality product and to reasonable prices. Bar La Tita

This bar in the historical center is already a classic for its famous potato omelette which is served with the beer without having to ask for it. But be prepared to wait outside for a while, because getting a table is a complicated mission The flow of people is fast.

The omelet, as expected, does not disappoint Juicy, with that traditional Spanish flavor, and well served. It went straight to the top of our route. Although we only went for the pincho, we saw that they had more good-looking things on the menu, such as scallops o zorza. Come on, they don't just live off the tortilla.

The price per person is around 8-10 € if you go just for a beer and a tapa, and a little more if you go for a portion.

Vinoteca O'Filandón

Hidden in the backroom of a sausage store in Rúa da Acibechería, O'Filandón is a cozy and unpretentious space, perfect for enjoying wine and good local ambience.

We ordered a couple of drinks and with them came a few tapas of sausages and cheese style: chorizo, ham and a slice of tetilla or San Simón cheese. Ideal tapas to share with a glass of wine. In addition to this you can order toasts and portions of the same sausage that you are testing with the caps.

The price is around 15-20 € per person depending on the drinks and tapas you get. A great option if you are looking for a place with a good vibe and good local produce.

Bar A Gamela

This site is one of those tapas bars where you know you are going to eat well and no-nonsense: homemade, generous portions at very decent prices No reservations But you can wait at the bar with a beer while the tables are free, and the truth is that it goes fast.

We ordered some mushrooms with cream which were very tasty, well done, with a touch of garlic and oil. And some cecina croquettes with San Simón cheese that were amazing: homemade, creamy and with a flavor that was noticeable from the first bite. The truth is that with those two portions we had enough to eat between two of us.

The staff was very friendly The service was attentive without being overwhelming, and the service was quite fast. Ideal if you want a tapas plan without complications and with good food in the background.

Abastos 2.0 Restaurant

This site is within the Food Market and it's really cool because everything they cook comes directly from the market, very fresh. They don't have a fixed menu, just a few portions that change every day, depending on what's in the market.

We ask for grilled octopus It was brutal: tender, tasty and with that touch of garlic that gave it life. And some clams with green sauce The sauce was light but powerful, inviting you to dunk your bread without stopping. All very well done, without overloading the flavors.

The place is not cheap, but the quality of the product justifies it. We went out for about 30-35 € per person sharing two portions and with a glass of wine each one. Ideal for a day when you feel like something more special without going too formal.

Cafeteria Nariño

A little out of the historical center this café-bar is a cross between the classical Galician tapería and a brunch with a modern soul. Its specialty: the Spanish omelet which is said to be "the best in Santiago"..

We went out to test the famous potato omelette Nariño style: juicy, with that homemade touch that we love. We also ordered a Nariño snack filled with fried baby squid with aioli and cheese, great! Accompanied by a portion of raxo with potatoes generous in portions and flavor.

The average price is between 15 per person perfect for an informal plan. The atmosphere is spacious and casual, with a terrace, good music and friendly service.

Riquela Room

This place is located in Rúa do Preguntoiro, next to the old town, and it mixes the roll of tapas bar with live concerts. There is a well kept terrace, the atmosphere is lively and the menu is varied, with modern portions and some Galician touches.

We share shitakes á feira with good salt and oil, and a few patatas bravas classic but well made. We also tried some homemade croquettes creamy and well served. We liked everything we tasted.

The average price is around 20 per person without being overdone. Perfect for a quiet dinner with some background music and no rush. The treatment was correct and the service, agile; informal and flexible atmosphere, you can catch bar table o outside according to touch.

Ventosela Wine Cellar

This tiny place in Rúa da Raíña is ideal for those who fancy a glass of wine with good accompaniment of a lid. It is a wine bar really: relaxed atmosphere, local people and staff who know about wine and give you good advice.

We ordered a couple of glasses of albariño y Ribeiro each came with a sausage tapa or cheese. We also tasted a crackling toast with cheese Super rich and very generous. All the homemade roll that we like very much.

The staff was very pleasant and attentive The restaurant makes very good recommendations about the wines or the tostas. The place fills up quickly, so it's a good idea to arrive early or get the bar, but it's a good time with good company and wine.

Orella Restaurant

This traditional bar in the heart of Rúa da Raíña has the charm of simplicity: abundant rations fresh product and Galician cuisine no detours. The place is small, with just enough tables and a very local atmosphere, ideal for tapas without complications.

We tested the galician octopus with its paprika and just the right amount of oil, and a few clams a la marinera with a powerful sauce, one of those that make you ask for bread without thinking. These are two dishes that you will see that we eat a lot in Galicia as we love them and they are usually spectacular.

The average price is around 15-20 € per person The price is quite adjusted to the quality of the food and eating well but without going out rolling. A very good option if you want traditional Galician cuisine without spending a lot of money.

Restaurant O Xa Chegou

Here we enter fully into a authentic Galician tavern. From the moment you walk through the door you know you are not in a restaurant for tourists: the menus are in Galician The staff is from the neighborhood, and the customers seem to be lifelong regulars.

We opted for a portion of zorza with Cabrales cheese and juicy with the cheese, and we also tasted lacón (pork shoulder) y mushroom scrambled eggs. Everything made with care, without haste and with real flavor.

Prices are noticeably lower than in other places in the center. Eating well here costs about 20 per person. However, the We felt that our attention could be improved Maybe because they noticed that we were not from the area... or it was just a bad day, who knows. But if you go to what you go to (to eat rich and homemade) this place nails it.

Mesón A'Charca

This restaurant in the Rúa do Franco maintains that classic air of a Galician inn: traditional decoration, quiet atmosphere and friendly service. Perfect to sit down to eat without haste and with authentic flavor.

We tested the Galician broth The food was well loaded and with that comforting taste of home cooking. We also ordered some scallops fresh and with a light seasoning that did not mask the product, and a few fried squid tender, crispy on the outside and without excess breading. Everything very well done.

The average price is between 25 and 30 € per person Depending on what you order and if you want dessert or wine. Quality of the product, correct quantities and no surprises on the bill.
