Where to eat in Cáceres

The best places to eat in Cáceres

The first thing to do is to decide if you feel like going for tapas or to a traditional restaurant. We are going to show you options for all tastes, not only in the historic center but all over the city so choose what you feel like:

1. Where to eat tapas in Cáceres

Many tapas bars can be found in the Virgen de la Montaña Avenue It is a very central area with a central promenade full of terraces. There, the most famous are the Zeppelin bar which is located at the beginning of the street, and the Marina known for its pinchos and good quality tapas. A restaurant that has recently opened, is the bar Malaje which not only offers pinchos and tapas, but also offers dinner. The portions are small but the cuisine is good. We recommend the scrambled eggs with ham and risotto.

1.1 Al-Andalus

Al andalus is a typical bar of the city, which is located at the Isabel de Moctezuma Avenue. It is known for the skewers they serve with your drink, although people usually go there for a pitcher of beer and their famous tomato doughnut with oregano, cheese and ham; to tell you the truth... it looks like a pizza! Our favorite skewers are the meat skewer with homemade fries and the sausage skewer. The quality-price ratio is very good, but it is a bar for cañas and pinchos, if you prefer to dine, we will tell you more about delicious places later on.

1.2. Tapería Trinidad

La tapería Trinidad is located in the Francisco Pizarro Street area, area of drinks and bars. It is located in the old part of town and is known for its characteristic decoration, as it has a religious atmosphere and ornamentation. For example, when you ask for the bill, they bring you a small cup with small wafers. It is good value for money and the tapas are good. We like their croquettes the sirloin and the broken eggs. They also have a good dessert menu. The only downside is that the place is small, so it gets crowded easily.

There are two locations Tápara: one located in the R-66 neighborhood (Islas Filipinas street), and another on the road to Medellín. This place has very good cuisine. The price is around 20-25€ per person. It is also well known for its menu. We recommend the different types of rice and the different meats although the rest of the products are also a good choice. 1.5. Aunt Tula

Aunt Tula is a tapería very close to the plaza de San Juan located in the Brown Square where there is also a great variety of tapas. We can find very good vegetarian options, such as ratatouille, the hamburgers vegan or mango mousse. The price is around 15-20€ and they also have a menu.

1.6. Perhaps

Perhaps is a tapería that is next to Tía Tula. We recommend it because we have been several times to eat there and we have always liked everything we have tried. They also have vegetarian options and we love to go there to try their homemade desserts.

1.7. Tapería L'avenir

La tapería L'avenir is located on the same street as Tía Tula. We liked the service and the food very much. There we ordered stuffed zucchini ravioli, small duck magret burgers with goat cheese and a sirloin steak with potato sauce. We loved everything we tried. The place is small and cozy, and it's next to the old part We can visit the monumental city before or after visiting these taperías.

1.8. Tapería BOS

La tapería BOS is located on the street Maestro Sánchez Garrido one of the streets that connects to the square. This tapería, in addition to its good location, has a good variety of tapas; among which we recommend the risotto, the broken eggs with torta del casar sauce, the hamburger or the sirloin medallions with caramelized onion. In addition, the desserts are known for their good presentation, as there is a rubik's cube of three chocolates, a famous white chocolate mushroom and red fruits, and its delicious cheesecake. The price is around 15-20€ per person.

Tapería Yuste

Tapería Yuste, next to Figón de Eustaquio or Tapería BOS, has a very nice terrace to enjoy the good weather of our city. We recommend their croquettes, although there is a wide variety of dishes and desserts to choose from.

1.10. La Cacharrería

This tapería located in the heart of the old part is located very close to the San Mateo square, the place is very nice and cozy, it has a semi-open part and an interior part as if it were an old house.

The menu is quite short, which we like and almost everything we have tried we have loved. Our favorite dishes are the ciberian wrinkles the truffled egg and the potato croquettes. Spectacular. For dessert we only ordered the sawdust but it did not convince us, especially if you are used to try the typical Portuguese with more cookie. We leave you the menu and the bill in the photos below. The average price per person is about 20€ if you order a couple of tapas per person and a dessert to share.

2. The best restaurants in Cáceres

2.1. The Eustaquio's Figón

The Figón de Eustaquio, located in the Plaza de San Juan, is well known and frequented by the people of Cáceres, as it has a pleasant terrace and good Extremaduran food (migas with eggs, deer brochette, assortment of Iberian meats...), in addition to its desserts, which we also recommend. 2.2 White Eustachium

The Eustaquio white is both a tapería and a restaurant. It is located on Avenida Ruta de la Plata. The prices of the tapas range from 5 to 12,5€, while the prices of the portions are higher (9-26€). Among the tapas we find stuffed peppers, baby squid, salads, hake, Iberian prey, Iberian secret... The portions are tables of Iberian products, grilled vegetables, broken eggs, croquettes, etc. The restaurant's menu increases the price, and in it we find, again, an assortment of Iberian, rice and spoon dishes, seafood dishes, etc, which are around 20€. 2.3 Albalat Restaurant

The Albalat is a restaurant-tapería near the Eustaquio Blanco. It is both a restaurant and a tapería. As for the tapas, there is a wide variety of toasts (Iberian ham and egg toast, prawn toast with ali oli gratin, marinated Iberian prey toast with guacamole, sirloin toast with port juice, gourmet hamburger alBalat), tapas (pickled partridge and apple slices salad, marinated chicken salad with caesar sauce, salmorejo with egg and ham, alBalat pâté with apple compote, Iberian ham croquettes) and portions (croquettes, cakes, salads....). The Galarza viewpoint is another famous restaurant in Cáceres, known for its meats. 2.6 B-nomio Restaurant

The restaurant B-nomial is also known for its gastronomic quality, so its prices are high, around 35-40€ per person. It is located near the Rodeo Park. It stands out for its quality and good presentation of the dishes. Its menu is very varied and the place is very pleasant, as well as its attention. Although its price is higher, we recommend trying it.

2.7 Atrium

The Atrium is possibly the most famous restaurant in Cáceres. It has two Michelin stars, and this last year its fame has been increasing due to a well-known millionaire theft of several wines from its cellar, which, in the end, could be recovered. Being a two-Michelin-star restaurant, its price is high, as the tasting menu is 155 per person. If you are a fan of typical and quality gastronomy, this place is a must, where you can taste innovative and exquisite dishes in a unique atmosphere.

2.8 Sande Tower

The restaurant Sande Tower is also well known for its gastronomic quality. It is focused on grilled meats and vegetables, although we also find sausages and typical products of the land. This restaurant has a sun in the Repsol Guide and also appears in the Michelin guide. We recommend the tasting menu to try a larger number of dishes, and if you can enjoy it on the terrace, you will not regret it.

2.9 Claudio House

The Restaurant Claudio House is located in Casar de Cáceres, but it is well known for its gastronomic quality. Its menu of the day is 12€ per person and the value for money is very good. There are two types of menus: the terrace menu and the restaurant menu. The market menu is 30€. They have a wide variety of products and everything we have tried has been exquisite. Although the price is high if you do not take the menu of the day, but we think it is worth it if you like to try quality food. Here is the letterto take a look at it.

2.10 At ca Rosi

At ca rosi is our favorite restaurant to enjoy homemade food at a very good price. It is located on San Ignacio street, near the Rodeo park. They have pitchers of beer with portions for 7€. Their menu of portions is extensive, and our favorites are the potatoes ali-oli, sirloin steak with pepper or cake, cod with sea bream and scrambled eggs. Their cachopo costs 16€ and is delicious. The menu of the day around the 10-11€ and it is very plentiful. Our only warning is to go there hungry because the portions are plentiful.

2.11 Mistela

One of our recent discoveries in Cáceres is this restaurant located at the Place de Bruxelles near the madrila alta. A good plan for lunch or dinner is to come here and then stay for a drink in the area, although we recommend you call ahead and book in advance as the site is not very big and usually fills up soon.

They always give you one or two quality tapas to start your meal while you order your drinks, all the food is very good, we leave the menu in the photos below but our recommendation is that you try the rice the broken eggs and some meat. The average price per person is about 15€ and it is one of the restaurants with best value for money for lunch or dinner in Cáceres.

2.12 Alcaraván

If you are near the Caballo area, the madrila alta or even the park of the prince, go to the restaurant AlcaraVán can be a good idea. They have a very varied menu and all the food we tried was very tasty. Our personal recommendation is to try the cachopín, the grilled vegetables or some of the hamburgers. The price average per person is about 15-20€ depending on whether you order wine or not.

2.13 Out of ten

If you love meat, De Diez is a place you have to try. It is one of those restaurants where everything you ask for is delicious, but their specialty is the cutlets and what a level!

We ordered one of the steaks that were recommended to us, some of which were eggplant and goat log croquettes super creamy, the octopus with potatoes revolconas (which melted in the mouth) and a rice pudding which was scandalous. To top it off, the torrija with ice cream was the icing on the cake. Everything was perfect.

The environment is very quiet and elegant but the best is the terrace if it's a good day. Yes, the prices are a bit high, but it is understandable because the quality is top and the service is the best.

3. The best bars and pubs in Cáceres

3.1. Mastropiero

In Mastropiero gastrobar and garden you can eat, but it is better known as a place to have a drink in the afternoon/evening. It has a wide menu of cocktails and drinks, although you can also have a coffee, smoothies or juices. It has a very nice garden to spend some time and if you want to continue the party, you have to go to Pizarro street or Madrila, where the discos are located. 3.2 Maria Bonita

Maria bonita is another bar-pub, located in the square, where you can have a quiet beer or a few drinks with a bong, while enjoying the views of the square.

3.3 Carpe Diem

Carpe Diem is another pub located on Dr. Fleming street, better known as the high madrila, where you can also have a few drinks. It closes at 2 o'clock every day, except on Fridays and Saturdays when it closes at 3 o'clock.

3.4 Stables

The Stables is another of the many bars on Pizarro Street, known for its beautiful interior garden, which is full of plants and illuminated at night. On weekends it is usually crowded from lunchtime onwards for a beer, a drink or... whatever comes up!

3.5 Whites

Las Claras is a bar located in the Plaza de las Claras, known for its beer. It is next to Pizarro street and Mastropiero, so if you go, you are in the area of atmosphere. Its terrace is ideal for a beer in spring or summer.

3.6 The stork corral

The Stork corral is a bar located in the old part of town, in one of the streets that connect with Santa Maria. It is a very popular place on weekends. Sometimes there are concerts and if not, don't worry, because they play the music for you. It's outdoors; it's a cobblestone place, with palm trees and its walls full of vines. I think it's one of the nicest places to have a drink in the old part of town. Their 1 liter pitchers of beer cost 5€ and they also have a varied menu of cocktails and drinks.

3.7 The seven gardens

The seven gardens is a hidden bar in the old part of town, because before reaching the Plaza de San Jorge, you have to turn downhill and then turn right to find it. It has a beautiful garden, which is also illuminated at night and with magnificent views of the mountains of Cáceres. You can also dine here, although it is better known for a drink. We recommend having a drink, even a quick one, to enjoy its tranquility and wonderful views.

4. Discotheques

If after having a drink in any of the bars we have suggested you still want more, then we tell you which are the nightclubs here so you can continue to know all aspects of Caceres. Here we leave you some of them:

4.1. Zrrcus

Zrrcus is the farthest discotheque, but the biggest one. It is in the Extremadura hotel and, in addition, it has a lighted terrace to have a drink, and even a fast food restaurant, which is open until 00:30, in case after the drinks you get a little hungry.

4.2. Best discotheques in La Madrila Baja

In the lower Madrila you will find most of the discotheques in Cáceres. They are usually open until 5 in the morning, more or less, and if you still feel like more, you can go to the Rita the after The best known of the city, which will allow you to last until breakfast time and more. Ivanhoe

Ivanhoe is the first discotheque you find when you go down the stairs that take you to the Madrila. Also, if you don't want to be among 18 year olds, this is your place, because there you will find people from 25 years old and up. You can find them on instagram as @ivanhoe3.0.

Baroque

Baroque is a small disco on the left side of the stairs. It's a small place but they have good music and they do raffles of bottles and bongs that you can participate in. Their instagram is @salabarroco

Velvet

Velvet is the busiest discotheque in La Madrila. It is also small and they do raffles. The entrance fee is 7€ and you get a drink. The instagram is @velvetcaceres.

Some extra pubs

Next to the Rita There are two pubs that have recently opened, with free admission. They are the Shaker and the Naughty. Both places fill up before going to the disco, although young people usually go, so another option is to be in one of the bars, which we have already mentioned, before going to the disco.
